We took our time getting ready and started packing up our
stuff, then headed back to Happy Lobster for breakfast. The boys each had
pancakes and cleaned their plates! Kris and I both had the same omelets, why
mess with a good thing. We also had their coffee- and wow it was excellent!
This time breakfast cost us $28US. The weather was really windy as we walked back
toward the hotel. Along the way we met a couple from Canada, Tyler and Kristin,
who were on the island for a couple days before heading to Tikal Guatemala. We
chatted with them for a little bit and then had to hustle back to the hotel to
pack up. We rushed to get to the water taxi that was scheduled to leave at
11:15am only to have it run late and not arrive until 11:45am. While we were
waiting we let the boys drive their cars in the sand and we also saw some
dolphins swimming and jumping out of the water!

| Goodbye Caye Caulker! |
The water taxi from Caye Caulker to San Pedro took about 45
minutes and was pretty crowded. Anthony & Shannon met us in San Pedro and
we rode in their golf cart to their apartment….
We hadn’t planned on going to San Pedro, but while we were
waiting for the water taxi to Caye Caulker we met Anthony & Shannon, a pair
of Christians who are living in San Pedro, building a Christian school. We
spent about 25minutes talking with them about what they are doing, where they
were from, how and why we were in Belize, etc. They invited us to give them a
call before we headed back to the mainland. They offered to let us stay with
them in their two bedroom condo. One of the major reasons that we didn’t
consider visiting San Pedro was that it is much more expensive than Caye
Caulker- hotels, food, everything just cost more…. So with Anthony &
Shannon offering us a free place to stay we couldn’t pass that up!

San Pedro is a much different experience than Caye Caulker.
It is 25 miles long. Most people drive golf carts here, but there are plenty of
cars on the roads too. Anthony & Shannon picked us up from the water taxi
dock and we rode in their golf cart to their condo. The condo was across a
bridge in the northern part of the city, away from the craziness of the
downtown area. The day itself wasn’t too great- very windy and even cold. I got
goosebumps for the first time in 2 months! But the land was gorgeous!! The
condo was right on the beach! We unloaded our stuff into our bedroom and while
Anthony & Shannon went to the store we hit the beach!! Jonathan and Kris
built another impressive Mayan Ruin while Aaron and I hunted for shells for our
collection. We found a set of rocks extending into the water where we found a
whole ecosystem! Kris picked up a sea snail and held it still enough that the
snail came out of the shell quite a ways! We also saw hermit crabs, regular
crabs (small ones), a sea anemone, and some small fish. I stumbled upon a
pointy shell buried in the sand. I kept digging and found a whole conch shell,
which we happily added to the collection!
