| San Pedro has a movie theater! |
In the morning the boys helped us get an early start by
waking up at 6am. Kris got online and found a private shuttle service that
would pick us up at the water taxi terminal in Belize City and drive us to our
apartment in Santa Elena for $90US, so he called got it all arranged. Then Anthony
& Shannon brought us back to the water taxi and we bought a ticket to Belize
City (37.50US for Kris, JJ and myself, Aaron was free). Thankfully the water
taxi was only half full. We met a couple, Chad and Tasha from Oregon. They have
two kids a girl who is 4 and a boy who is 18months. We enjoyed chatting with
them during the 45 min ride to Caye Caulker where they got off to spend the
day. A bunch more people got on for the 1hr ride to Belize City.

As we were
getting off the taxi I saw a couple that we’d met on Caye Caulker, Tyler and
Kristin. We talked with them a little bit and traded phone numbers. They were
on their way via airplane to Tikal Guatemala but wanted to see San Ignacio. So
Kris offered to come get them at the border and we could show them around. Our
shuttle driver Abraham was waiting for us and we enjoyed a very comfortable 2
hr ride back to Santa Elena in his minivan. Abraham’s family runs this shuttle
service and his father used to be a pastor. Though we thoroughly enjoyed our
time at the beach we were excited to get back to the jungle! Our apartment was
waiting for us just as we left it, safe and secure. We came in, dropped our
luggage, and since we didn’t have much food in the house, we made a quick trip
to the local bakery to pick up some ham, cheese & jalepeno bread-wrap
things for a late lunch and headed home again for a lazy afternoon.
